The Oxford May Music Festival takes place in the historic centre of the city of Oxford. Based in one of the gems of 18th century architecture, the Holywell Music Room, with one of the best acoustics in the world, the festival brings together some of the finest musicians performing in the UK today and many leading lecturers in their fields.
The 2010 Festival has been the most successful so far, with attendances considerably up, particularly at the lectures, and full of fantastic lectures & concerts. Reviews in the Oxford Daily Information said : “How can words chase after the unrepeatable moment of this in every way superlative performance?...This was an unforgettable evening, held as all live performance so exhilaratingly is, in the time of its happening, an event to be celebrated but hardly possible to be explained in words. You need to hear these gifted players, wherever and whenever they perform, and you need to book now for May Music 2011.” and of the lectures: “I wish all the lectures I have attended were as well delivered as this one....If this is the standard, I would certainly recommend checking out the rest.” Peter Schofield, writing in the “Oxford Magazine”, said “This was, again, an extremely successful Festival.” His complete review can be read [here]. Some photographs from the 2010 Festival can be found [here].
